Coeur de Lavandes

You can spot these lovely lavender wands for sale on a few markets in Provence and in the Alpes de Hautes Provence. By weaving different colour ribbons through freshly cut lavender that remains malleable these hand-made objects are both beautiful and useful.

They act as a natural repellent against moths and other insects and by squeezing them gently you can release their fragrance for years to come. Traditionally in Provence these wands were added to a young bride’s trousseau along with her hand embroidered linens.

Thanks to an expat now living in Pertuis you can buy them overseas too. This small company has made a big leap and attends gift shows from New York to L.A. As a result these lavender wands will soon be available in shops throughout the U.S. and if you can’t wait that long you can order on line at: www.provencelavandes.com

In addition to the wands Provence Lavandes also makes spindles and Christmas ornaments. Each of the 3 products is available in 3 different sizes. The company offers 5 different ranges of products from rustic to elegance by using elaborate ribbons. One of the larger wands photographed on their website was used as a bridal bouquet. They are truly the perfect and authentic Provençal gift.
