Shepherd's Walk

In the village of Allauch, located in the foothills behind Marseille, the local shepherds and their sheep leave Notre Dame du Chateau around 10:15 pm.

The procession which takes place every 24 December makes a stop at the giant nativity scene created by local santons maker Gilbert Orsini before heading to Saint Sebastien Church were midnight mass is conducted in Provencal. Each shepherd will carry a lamb on his shoulder into the church for the blessing.  If you want to witness a traditional Provencal Christmas this is the perfect occasion. www.tourisme.allauch.com
