Montgolfière

The Montgolfière is named after the two brothers, Joseph Michel and Jacques Etienne Montgolfier, who invented the hot air balloon in the late 1700's.

Originally from the Ardeche region of France the brothers became world famous. King Louis XVI made the family nobles in recognition of their clever invention and they became the "de Montgolfier" family. This picture was taken at 6:30 am today at the foot of Roussillon (Luberon). Somehow montgolfiere sounds a bit more romantic than hot air balloon. For 215 euros per person you can go for a 45 minute ride. Contact www.montgolfiere-provence-ballooning.com which is located in Gordes.
