The 2012 Château Miraval rosé labeled ‘Jolie-Pitt and Perrin’ is retailing at $24.99 a bottle. A hefty price tag for a Côte de Provence but then again there is a price to pay for Brand names and for organic wines.
In a joint venture with Marc Perrin, of Château de Beaucastel fame in Châteauneuf du Pape, wine continues to be made at the Hollywood couple’s new estate called Château Miraval in Correns, Provence. Correns, which produces mainly wine, is known as "le Premier Village Bio de France" or “the First Organic Village in France”.
The couple purchased the estate in 2008 and Perrin has looked after the 2012 harvest to launch their new wine from the 1000 acre estate.
Château Miraval has been hosting stars for years. Previous owner, Jacques Loussier, a pianist and composer installed a recording studio drawing the likes of Sting, The Cranberries and Pink Floyd to the estate. Bottles of Pink Floyd ‘Dark side of the Moon’ made at Château Miraval are still available on line at www.winesthatrock.com
And if you want to purchase Brangelina’s new rosé you will have to wait for the next harvest. This month online pre-orders (6 bottle limit) were so overwhelming that stock ran out within 5 hrs of launch. If you would like to try their whites the 2012 bottles should be available in September.
Winemaker's Notes Chateau Miraval 2012 Rosé: Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Rolle. Beautiful light pale pink colour. On the nose, fantastic bouquet with delicate aromas of white fruits, just-picked strawberries and floral notes. The mouth is complex with raspberry and wild strawberry notes, wild herbs, citrus, and wet-stone flavors. It has a refreshing acidity thanks to the altitude of the vineyards, and a round, long and vibrant finish.
